Odens Snus (spelled Oden’s on the can) is Swedish-style tobacco snus made by Swedish Smokeless Solutions, the company formerly called GN Tobacco. It comes as ready-made portion pouches or as loose tobacco you shape yourself. You tuck it under the upper lip, leave it, and take it out. On the maker’s brands page, Oden’s is the flagship snus line: a tobacco blend, not a white nicotine pouch.

For the basics, start with what snus is. Pasteurization and the Swedish method are covered in what Swedish snus is. The comparison with tobacco-free pouches is nicotine pouches vs. snus. This page is about the Oden’s brand itself, plus a short read-the-can note, because the same company also sells nicotine pouches under other names.

What Odens is

Swedish Smokeless Solutions’ brands page puts Oden’s under its snus brands. It calls Oden’s the company’s flagship, with a large range of types that vary in taste, moisture, and nicotine content, and describes a tobacco blend with mint-oil flavors. The company’s About Us page says it was founded in 2004 in Enköping, Sweden, and makes snus, nicotine pouches, and chewing tobacco. The brands it names alongside Oden’s are Siberia and White Fox.

The official web shop at odenssnus.com lists Oden’s portion and loose products and names Swedish Smokeless as the manufacturer. Its Original Portion listing describes a snus tobacco blend in moistened portion bags, regular size. That is what is inside: tobacco.

Odens is one brand within snus, not a definition of snus. Other Swedish-style brands covered on this blog: General snus and Ettan snus. The American tobacco snus most people meet first: Camel snus. The wider brand map: snus brands.

Read the can — same company, different products

Swedish Smokeless sells more than one kind of oral product.

  • Oden’s — listed as snus with a tobacco blend on the maker’s brands page.

  • Siberia — listed under snus brands and under nicotine pouch brands on the same page. That naming overlap is explained in Siberia snus vs. nicotine pouches.

  • White Fox (and HIT) — tobacco-free nicotine pouch brands.

The odenssnus.com shop sells nicotine pouches and tobacco snus side by side, so an Oden’s search can land you next to pouch products from the same company. Sitting under the lip the same way does not mean the contents are the same.

Read the can. If the lid and ingredients describe tobacco snus, it is Oden’s-style snus. If a can from the same maker says tobacco-free, it is a nicotine pouch — a different product. Don’t buy expecting one and get the other.

How you use Odens

Oden’s public pages do not publish a US how-to with a minute count the way General’s and Camel’s consumer FAQs do, so this page won’t make one up.

The Swedish-style snus routine applies:

  • Portion — take one ready pouch. Tuck it between the upper lip and the gum. Leave it. Take it out. Do not chew it. Do not swallow the pouch.

  • Loose — take ground tobacco from the can, press it into a small portion (a prilla) of the size you want, and tuck it in the same place. More on that form: loose snus.

Step-by-step basics: how to use snus. It goes in the same spot a white pouch does — see where to put a Zyn — but the contents are tobacco.

Check the tin for any storage or best-before notes.

Oden’s portion types

Oden’s catalog names include:

  • Original Portion — moistened portion bags; the shop copy says flavor comes through fast. Still tobacco.

  • White / White Dry Portion — a drier pouch surface (less drip, longer-lasting flavor, per the catalog). Still tobacco. “White” here does not mean tobacco-free.

  • Loose — ground tobacco you shape yourself. More: loose snus.

Words like Cold, Extra Stark, Extreme, or a number on the lid are product names. This page doesn’t walk through flavors or rank strengths, and it doesn’t reprint nicotine figures from product pages. Read the can.

If you were actually looking for a pouch with no tobacco in it, see tobacco-free nicotine pouches or what Zyn is.

Odens, the US shelf, and white pouches

Odens is not the American snus that many US gas stations carry — that is usually Camel Snus. It is also not Swedish Match’s General, which has a US brand FAQ and store finder. Ettan snus is another Swedish Match tobacco can with a Swedish catalog story.

This page isn’t a shop list or import guide. Where Oden’s can be bought depends on local stores and local law.

Vs. a nicotine pouch: both sit under the upper lip, but only snus has tobacco in it. The full comparison is nicotine pouches vs. snus.

Vs. dip: Swedish Match’s FAQ separates Swedish snus (upper lip, pasteurized) from American moist snuff (lower lip, fermented). Pouch versus dip: ZYN vs. dip. Tobacco snus versus dip: snus vs. dip.

Is Odens right for you?

Odens makes sense if you want that Swedish Smokeless tobacco snus — portion or loose — and you can buy it where it is legally sold.

General snus is the closer match if a Swedish-style portion is what your local counter actually carries.

Camel Snus is the closer match if you want American tobacco snus from a US tobacco retailer.

Loose snus is the better starting point if you care more about shaping your own portion than about the brand.

If you want something under the lip without tobacco, start with what Zyn is. If the Siberia name is what confused you, see Siberia snus vs. nicotine pouches.

If what bothers you is having a pouch under your lip at all, switching to another Oden’s can won’t change that. That is a different format, not a different flavor.

Frequently Asked Questions About Odens Snus

Is Odens snus or a nicotine pouch?

Odens (Oden’s) is a snus brand — tobacco snus, by the maker’s own brand listing. It is not a nicotine pouch. For the general term, see what snus is; for the tobacco-free comparison, see nicotine pouches vs. snus. Read the can, since the same company sells pouch brands under other names.

Who makes Odens Snus?

Swedish Smokeless Solutions, formerly GN Tobacco, based in Enköping, Sweden. The company also makes Siberia and the White Fox and HIT nicotine pouch brands.

How do you use Odens Snus?

Portion: one pouch under the upper lip, leave it, take it out. Loose: press a small portion and tuck it in the same place. Do not chew. Do not swallow the portion. Oden’s public pages give no US minute count, so read the can. Basics: how to use snus.

Is Odens White a nicotine pouch?

Not when the can says White or White Dry portion snus. In snus catalogs, “White” describes a drier pouch surface; tobacco is still inside. Tobacco-free pouches are a different product: tobacco-free nicotine pouches.

Is Odens the same as Swedish snus?

Odens is a Swedish-style snus brand. For the method itself, see what Swedish snus is.

Is Odens the same as Siberia or Camel?

No. Siberia is a sister brand from the same company that uses its name on both snus and pouches — Siberia snus vs. nicotine pouches. Camel Snus is R.J. Reynolds’ American tobacco snus — Camel snus.

Where can I buy Odens Snus?

Swedish Smokeless and the Odenssnus shops list the brand for the markets they serve. This page isn’t a store finder or import advice. In the US, most people meet Swedish-style snus as General or American snus as Camel first.

Where does BRST fit?

It is not snus and not a lip pouch. BRST is a 2mg peppermint melt that dissolves under the tongue — a different oral format with no tobacco in it. Brand versus the white can: BRST vs. Zyn. Format hub: nicotine tablet vs. gum, lozenge, and pouch.

Format note

This page explains what the Oden’s snus brand is, who makes it, and how it differs from the same company’s nicotine pouches. It is not a flavor review, a strength ranking, or a buying guide.

BRST is a dissolving peppermint melt tablet (2mg) — not snus and not a pouch, and not FDA-approved nicotine replacement therapy. Adults 21+. Nicotine is addictive.
